Information:
What is a First Contact Practitioner (FCP)?
A First Contact Practitioner (FCP) is a highly experienced specialist healthcare professional (most commonly an advanced physiotherapist) based right here at our surgery.
They are experts in assessing, diagnosing, and managing musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions—which include issues affecting your joints, muscles, bones, and nerves.
Instead of waiting to see a GP first for a referral, you can book an appointment directly with our FCP. This gives you faster access to specialist care from the right expert, right away.
What Conditions Can an FCP See?
You can book an appointment with our FCP for any new or flare-up of:
-
Back, neck, or spine pain (including sciatica)
-
Joint pain or stiffness (e.g., knee, hip, shoulder, wrist, ankle)
-
Sprains, strains, or sports injuries
-
Arthritis or joint wear-and-tear
-
Nerve pain, weakness, or pins and needles in limbs
-
How to Book
You do not need a GP referral. Simply speak to our reception team or select the First Contact Practitioner option when requesting an appointment online. Our staff may also suggest an FCP appointment if your symptoms match their specialist expertise.
